A World With No Sound
Problem: Approximately 5.2 million children/adolescents and 26 million adults suffer from noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).
"Cars, sirens, and city traffic may be inevitable exposures to the ear, however extremely loud music is not.''
Solution:
We designed a product that will monitor the music level on iPods, iPhones, etc. Our purpose for our product is for people to be responsible with technology and to protect their ears. It consists of a " transducer" that will convert the unit of electrical energy (amperes) to sound units (decibels). This will measure the intensity and the duration of the music. This pertains to genetics because it mimics the transcription process from DNA to RNA. This is responsible design because teenagers and adults are becoming more disciplined and in control of their lives so that they can have a healthy future.
